Thaw Di Gras 2020

It was a month ago this weekend that we had our first presence in Dawson City for Thaw Di Gras spring carnival.
Hard to believe that so much has changed in only a month, but we thought we’d share some happy and hilarious memories made over that weekend because we’re still SO excited to bring this festival to life as soon as it’s safe enough to.

Big thank you to the amazing staff at the Westminster Hotel for hyping the hell out of us and having SO much fun, to the Naysayers for such an amazing two nights of music, to Dolores Black and Cherie Coquette for a sultry speakeasy burlesque performance and Weronika Murray for the pics of that, and to everyone who showed up to support us.
Rest assured we will make even more insane, silly, and fun memories the next time we’re all allowed to be next to each other!
We love y’all, and keep on stayin’ safe, clean, and healthy!

Damn you, Covid.

As everyone is well aware, COVID-19 is affecting all things tattooing, tourism, and event related, and unfortunately things on our end are no different. We have been waiting and watching carefully to see if the festival would be alright for this year, and it is with a massively heavy heart that we have to make the executive decision to postpone North of 60 Tattoo Extravaganza until 2021.
The festival was scheduled for the weekend of June 12-14th 2020 and would have hosted approximately 25 artists, 30 performers, 40-50 volunteers, and have a projected 200-250 visitors, which would widely surpass the allowed limit of 50 person gatherings.
Though it was a sad conclusion to come to, the health and safety of all of the communities and people involved is (of course) the most important thing in these unsettling times.

  We are still working together with the venues and sponsors throughout these strange circumstances and we look forward to securing 2021 dates once the situation begins to settle, and planning becomes safe to move forward again, in order to make this event’s inaugural year even bigger, badder, and better than we could have planned for this year.

Please stay safe, stay healthy, and
STAY THE F%@& HOME!!

Yesterday at midnight we went live on all social media!
Potential artists, visitors, and sponsors, as well as local media, are already so excited about what we're doing.
Four artists are already officially registered, and about ten have said they will be signing up right away;
we've been contacted for sponsorships and donations for fundraisers already (holy WOW!);
local radio and news stations have reached out for interviews wanting to get to know our festival;
and people all across the Yukon are already buzzing with anticipation.

We're already feeling overwhelmed with the sheer amount of support that we've gotten within less than twenty-four hours of going public. Thanks everyone.

Here's a ditty from one of our newest instagram posts to get your hearts racing as fast as ours are:
North of 60 Tattoo Extravaganza is a not-for-profit organization.
We want people in the north to see and meet incredibly talented and down-to-earth tattooers from all over the world, and we want to show those artists our incredible home and community:
The Yukon.

This festival will be unique in its size and intimacy, and artists, volunteers, and visitors will be able to interact with - and get to know - each other.

Artists will be convoyed from Whitehorse to Dawson and back with volunteers, so that they truly experience the Yukon through the eyes of a local.
SOVA students in Dawson City will curate the festival’s art shows.
Northern bands and performers will be featured throughout the weekend in historical locations all over town.
Caterers will use as-local-as-possible ingredients to give artists a taste that’s Yukon-to-table.
Local businesses will sponsor individual tattooing rooms, partnering art and trade.
Film and photographers from the Yukon will capture the entire adventure.

It’s gonna be one heck of a ride that you won’t want to miss.
